The author highlights in this paper the differences between Ayurveda and Western medicine in the approach to healing process. Also the paper examines relevance of Ayurveda to the present day life style and thus, makes a critical study of both medical systems quoting references from various modern authors.

Alchemy as art tries to imitate creation such as spontaneous generation. The magic wands of creation, of Chinese origin, would be a compass and a triangular carpenter's square. Creation is represented by the dual-natured soul, comprising of the spirit (Ruh) and "the" soul (Nafs). The ultimate source is creative energy which emanates form the Divine word of command. Creative energy, in its non-manifest form, would be ultrasonic energy, which can be represented by a humming sourd. This would be sympolized by the humming sound. This would be symbolized by the humming sound of bees represent creative energy and in fig 3 the fiddle, as direct producers of a humming sound.

In this paper 180 cases of Anyedyushka and Thriteeyaka Vishamajwaras (P.vivax malaria) were studied for various biochemical changes before and after treatment and these changes were correlated with dosha-dushya involvement in these conditions. Their diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic utility has also been discussed here.

Agnitundirasa was tested for antigastric ulcer activity in shay rat model. Oral dose of 10 mg/kg reduced the ulceration in shay rat. With 20mg/kg dose the ulceration was completely absent. The antigastric ulcer activity of agnitundirasa (20 mg/kg) was found to be equal to the effect produced by cimetidine (20 mg/kg). The reduction in gastric acidity was more with cimetidine and the reduction in peptic activity was more with agnitundirasa.

The alchoholic extract of seeds of Trichopus zeylanicus showed a potent adaptogenic or antistress properties against a variety of stresses in both rats an dmice. The extract increased the swimming performance of normal and adrenalectomized mice. Significantly; prevented a variety of stress and chemical induced ulcerations in rats and also prevented milk-induced leucocytosis in mice. The extract further reduced the gastric secretary clume, PH and acid output in pylorusligated rat stomach. No mortalitiy was observed upto a dose of 3 g/kg per oral in mice. The study indicated that trichopus zeylanicus seeds induce a state of nonspecific increased resistance against a variety of stress induced biological changes in animals.

Mrtasanjivani sura was prepared according to the formulary in an earthen pot and in a glass vessel. The drug fermented in glass vessel was distilled using glass joint distillation apparatus and that fermented in earthen pot was distilled by baka yantra method. The alcohol content in the finished medicine in the glass distilled and baka yantra methods were 3.44% and 4.70% respectively. The medicine of each container was acidic in nature.

The extracts of bark, leaves and stem of A. indica, fruits of P. longum, berries of E. officinalis and seeds G. indicum were prepared using different solvents. Six different combinations of these extracts were tried on male albino rats to study their effects on sperm production on histological changes in the tests of the rats here was no significant change in production and viability of sperms. However, the rats treated with combinations I, II and III exhibited histological changes in the seminiferous tubules of testes, due to high degree of testicular edema.

Medical Science plays an important role in the field of Sports. Maintenance of fitness throughout the events, heightened physical and mental stamina are the basic needs of sportsmen. Here, the author attempts to find out the ways and means of utilizing the poten-tial of Ayurveda in the field of sports and its original contribution to sports medicine.

In the first part of the study the author discusses the overall approach of Ayurveda and records briefly here an account of global interest in it at present.

Based on the book "Tantra Vidya" of Oscar Marcel Hinze, the author interprets here the chapter 1.4 of the book and traces the manifestation of Cakras in the body.

In this experimental study of 65 ulcer patients and 25 healthy persons of this locality revealed an affinity of rice with ulceration. Experimental study conducted on 32 albino rats also confirmed the ulcerogenic property of rice. Arahara (red gram, Cojanus Ccaja) and to some extent wheat were found protective against peptic ulcer probably because of their high mucin output. Therefore, the study finds that the addition of wheat and pulses like Arahara in the diet of high prevalent area may bring decline in the incidence of peptic ulcer.

The anti-inflamatory activity of some of the medicinal plants were assayed at a dose of 1000 mg/kg b.wt. in male albino rats using Carrageenin induced rat raw edema. Among the fifteen medicinal plants were found to be highly effective which are discussed in this paper.

An extract of Smilax china, Hemidesmus indicus and Nigella Sativa on the ratio 3:2:1, prepared by boiling in water and concentrated could completely cure cases of oral canger diagnosed by modern methods. Cytotoxic studies with the three components showed activity in Nigella sativa at a concentration of 25 microgram equivalent of the dry powder against Dalton's lymphoma ascites cells. Animal experiments indicated the retarded growth of ascites as compared to the controls with a longivity of 90%.

50 cases of conjunctivitis studies comparatively with Haridra Eye Drops and with Soframycine Eye Drops, Clinically and bacteriologically observed that Haridra Eye Drops has a definite role on conjunctivitis. Bacteriological study shows the Haridra has a role to act on E. Coli, St. Aureus Klebshella and pseudomonas organisms.

This paper deals with medicinal plants of Gopeshwar-Tungnath region of Chamoli district of Uttar Pradesh based on the exploration. In all, 45 species are enumerated in this study.

SURADARU LEPA CHURNA'-A Compound drug formulation in Ayurvedic system of medicine was analysed. The proximate chemical analysis, the microscopic method of identifying their ingredients, flourescese study and thin layer chromatographic studies of the drug have been reported in this paper.
